Looking for something to do this weekend? If you’re like me and your kids haven’t left for camp yet, you are dredging the depths of your creativity for things to do to keep them busy…luckily, this weekend, Highland Park and Highwood provide the solutions:
On Saturday, July 23 and Sunday, July 24 fro 10-5, artists will line the streets of Highland Park at the intersection of Park Ave. and Sheridan Road. Stroll the variety of artists, working in all different mediums, and enjoy music, food and drink, a kids’ activities such as an art scavenger hunt, a silent auction “Bid of Buy” event and live demos. No fee, but a $5 donation to The Art Center is appreciated.
Last year’s inaugural event was a smashing success, so the Bloody Mary Fest is back! This year, there’s a Bloody Buddy 5K Challenge (save the Bloody Marys for afterward) kicking off at 9 am. The event features mixologists vying for the coveted title of “Best Bloody Mary in the Midwest” — last year’s winner was Gabe’s Backstage — as judged by celebrities and attendants. Admittedly, it doesn’t sound like the ideal place for my under-aged kids, but there will be a lot of family friendly activities, a Farmer’s Market, brunch in the streets, and more! It’s guaranteed to be a great time.
So what are you doing this weekend?
